A burn is damage to the skin and deeper tissues or organs, depending on its severity. With any burn, it should be assumed that it is more serious than it appears at first glance.

What to do in case of burns?

  • Remove the victim from the dangerous area.
  • Pour cool (not cold) water over the burned skin for at least 15 minutes.
  • Apply a sterile or hydrogel dressing to the burned skin.
  • do not remove clothing that is stuck to the skin,
  • Do not pierce blisters.

In case of electric shock:

  • disconnect the power supply – only then can you touch and rescue the victim,
  • call a doctor.

How to help in case of chemical burns?

  • Rinse the burning substance with plenty of running water for 15–20 minutes.
  • In case of burns to the respiratory tract, rinse the mouth with cold water, give plenty of water to drink or ice to suck on.
  • If the eyes are burned, rinse them thoroughly with lukewarm water for 10-20 minutes.

First-degree burns can usually be treated at home. It is
always advisable to consult a doctor in the case of second-, third-, and fourth-degree burns

It is important to remember that you should not delay seeking medical advice, as time is of the essence. Anyone who witnesses an accident resulting in burns should always administer first aid to the victim and call for medical assistance.
