Charging batteries

Get ready for work—you must wear:

  • protective apron,
  • work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • work gloves,
  • a face shield or safety glasses.

Before you start work, you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training,
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting work:

  • Check the technical condition of the device and battery.
  • Follow the operating instructions for the device.
  • Connect the charger to the power supply.
  • Connect the charger plug to the battery plug.
  • Use a working plug to connect the battery.

During operation:

  • Remove the battery from the truck using a specialized truck.
    • Before loading, check the efficiency of the forklift's moving parts.
    • Do not exceed the permissible load capacity of the device.
  • Connect the batteries to be charged to the chargers, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Monitor the charging process and do not allow the batteries to overcharge.
  • Keep the charging area tidy and clean.

After finishing work:

  • Disconnect the battery plugs from the charger plug.
  • Place the battery in the trolley or leave it on the shelf, and inform your colleagues about the charge status.

What NOT to do?

  • Allow unauthorized persons to work on the device.
  • Repair the device yourself.
  • Use open flames in the battery charging area or when working with batteries.
  • Place cardboard boxes or other flammable materials on the battery.
  • Store flammable materials in the battery charging area.

Failure or accident?

  • If something breaks down, disconnect the device from the power supply, secure it against restarting, and report the fault to your supervisor.
  • If an accident has occurred, do not touch anything and inform your supervisor.
  • Hang a sign on the damaged device: "DEVICE UNDER REPAIR – DO NOT TURN ON."
  • In the event of an electrolyte leak, use sorbent or another agent, such as sand.

First aid in case of contact with electronics:  

  • Skin contact: wash with water, remove contaminated clothing.
  • Inhalation of vapors: go out into the fresh air.
  • Eye contact: rinse the eye with an eye wash.
  • Ingestion: drink plenty of water immediately.
  • DO NOT induce vomiting (this may cause burns to the esophagus).
