Before you start work, remember that you must:
- Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training
- Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
- Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines, equipment, and tools used in the workplace.
Before starting work:
- Check the technical condition of the means of transport and pallets used for transport.
- Prepare the workplace for the task.
During work:
- Arrange loads stably, with heavier items at the bottom, so that they do not protrude beyond the pallet.
- Do not exceed the total height of 2 meters including the pallet.
- Observe the rules of traffic on internal roads during transport.
- Take care of the condition of devices, equipment, and order at the workplace.
- Use protective film, straps, or tape to keep the load stable.
1. Securing the load with stretch film
-
- Wrap the load around its entire height, starting from the pallet.
- Use the inner side of the film (it sticks better).
- Wrap the load several times, at least 3 times at the top.
- The film should be taut, but not stretched too tightly.
- Additionally, weave the film through the corners of the pallet at the top of the load.
2. Securing the load with transport straps
-
- Pass the strap through the pallet and over the load – without twisting.
- Insert the end of the strap into the tensioner, remove any slack, and tighten by hand.
- Close the tensioner and hide the loose strap.
- To loosen: open the tensioner arm (180°).
- Do not use straps to lift loads.
- Only use undamaged straps with a legible label
- Do not place the tensioner on the edge of the load.
3. Securing the load with plastic straps (banding)
-
- Pull the straps over the top of the load (from 2 or 4 sides).
- Then pass them under the upper pallet frame and tighten.
- If the straps do not cover the entire load, secure it additionally with stretch film.

After finishing work:
- Return empty pallets and transport equipment to the designated place.
- Clean your workstation thoroughly.
- Check that your workstation does not pose a hazard to other warehouse users.
What NOT to do?
- Use damaged pallets or pallet trucks/forklifts.
- Transport unsecured or poorly secured pallets.
- Climb on pallets.
- Stack loads higher than 2 m.
- Move around in prohibited areas (e.g., near ramps, floor edges).
- Use equipment for purposes other than those for which it is intended.
Breakdown or accident?
- If something breaks, remove the load manually (in accordance with standards), secure the pallet, immediately notify the maintenance team to remove or repair the pallet, and report the fault to your supervisor.
- If an accident has occurred, do not move anything and inform your supervisor.
