If you notice a fire or suspect that one has broken out:

  • Notify your supervisor/evacuation leader about the detected hazard.
  • If the fire is small and safe to extinguish, use a fire extinguisher or hydrant.

When you hear the alarm (siren or flashing red lights):

  • Stay calm.
  • Leave the building via the nearest emergency exit – follow the signs.

  • Do not take any personal belongings with you.
  • Help others if they need assistance.
  • Go straight to the assembly point.
  • Report your presence to the Evacuation Leader.
  • Do not stray, do not return to the building until the Coordinator or Fire Department allows you to do so.
  • Wait for instructions from the Evacuation Leader/Coordinator.

ARE YOU THE EVACUATION LEADER? PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:

After activating the alarm signal from the optical and acoustic devices:

  • Put on your evacuation leader vest.

  • Take the current attendance list of your subordinates.
  • Notify people in your area of the danger and the evacuation order: "ATTENTION Fire, please leave the building. Proceed to the nearest emergency exit."
  • Lead your team (including guests) to the assembly point.
  • Close the doors of the rooms after leaving them (do not lock them).
  • Check that everyone has left.
  • Line up employees at the assembly point and make sure everyone stays in one place.
  • Check the attendance of employees by reading them out one by one from the list and waiting for confirmation.
  • Give the attendance list to the Evacuation Coordinator.
  • Tell the Coordinator how many people should be there and how many are there [do not include people on vacation/sick leave].
  • Wait for further instructions.

If you have received information about a hazard from an employee:

  • Notify security (502 657 397).
  • Press the Manual Fire Alarm (MFA) if the alarm has not been activated.

  • Then perform the tasks as you would when activating the alarm signal.

Remember:

  • You must have a designated substitute in case of your absence.
  • You must update your department's attendance list daily.
  • In the absence of a leader, employees go to the nearest leader and are entered as "guests."

ARE YOU THE EVACUATION LEADER? PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:

After receiving information about a fire:

  • Assess the situation – what is burning, where, and to what extent.
  • Make a decision about evacuation
  • Order the alarm to be activated and the power to be turned off.
  • Call the emergency services: Fire Department, Police, Ambulance – if necessary.
  • Inform security at the gates about the need to secure the facility.

During the evacuation:

  • Put on the coordinator's vest.
  • Open or instruct someone to open the entrance gates for the Fire Department.
  • Make sure that fire lanes are free of vehicles.
  • Secure the entrances—no one is allowed to return to the building.
  • Assign people to direct traffic and block the entrance to delivery vehicles.
  • Remain calm – do not allow panic to spread.

After evacuation:

  • Collect reports from leaders on the status of personnel (if necessary, call them to you).
  • Pass on information about the situation and personnel status to the fire department commander.
  • Once the operation is complete, issue a decision to end the evacuation for people at the assembly point: Clearly emphasize that it is safe to return to work: "The threat has been eliminated, the alarm has been canceled, you can return to work."
