Get ready for work, you must wear:

  • a work shirt and pants,
  • work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • work gloves.

Before you start work, remember that you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting work

  • Check the condition of the forklift, pallets, and containers before use.
  • Make sure that the workplace is clean and tidy.
  • Report any faults to your supervisor.

During work:

  • Use only undamaged pallets.
  • Stack containers securely – heavier ones at the bottom, lighter ones at the top.
  • Remember that containers must not protrude beyond the outline of the pallet.
  • The load must not exceed 2 meters in height.
  • Secure irregular goods with fillers.
  • After stacking the containers, secure them properly:

1. Securing the load with stretch film

    • Wrap the load around its entire height, starting from the pallet.
    • Use the inner side of the film (it sticks better).
    • Wrap the load several times, at least 3 times at the top.
    • The film should be taut, but not stretched too tightly.
    • Additionally, weave the film through the corners of the pallet at the top of the load.

2. Securing the load with transport straps

    • Pass the strap through the pallet and over the load – without twisting.
    • Insert the end of the strap into the tensioner, remove any slack, and tighten manually.
    • Close the tensioner and hide the loose strap.
    • Do not use straps to lift the load.
    • Only use undamaged straps with a legible label.
    • Do not place the tensioner on the edge of the load.

3. Securing the load with plastic straps (banding)

    • Pull the straps over the top of the load (from 2 or 4 sides).
    • Then pass them under the upper pallet frame and tighten.
    • If the straps do not cover the entire load, secure it additionally with stretch film.

After finishing work

  • Return the equipment to its designated place.
  • Clean up the work area.
  • Check that the area does not pose a hazard.

What should NOT be done?

  • Place containers at a height of more than 2 m.
  • Fail to secure the load.
  • Use damaged pallets.
  • Throw or stand on containers.
  • Move around ramps and floor edges.

Breakdown or accident?

  • If something breaks, report the fault to your supervisor.
  • If an accident has occurred, do not move anything and inform your supervisor.
  • In the event of an accident, provide first aid to the injured person and call emergency services if necessary.
