Before you start work, remember that in order to operate a forklift truck, you must:
- Have a UDT qualification certificate.
- Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
- Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
- Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used in the workplace.
Before starting the forklift:
- Check the brakes, steering system, lights, horn, wheels, and lifting components.
- Confirm the condition in the forklift inspection log or app.
- Report any faults to your supervisor.
- Obtain information about the load and working conditions.
During operation:
- Only start the truck when you are sure it is safe to do so.

Prepare the pallet properly:
- Place the pallet "upside down" on top of the goods.
- Secure the goods between the pallets with technically sound straps.
- Unlock the fork attachment and then rotate the forks 90 degrees.

- Drive the forklift up to the pallet so that the forks are under the pallet on which the goods are standing and above the pallet lying on top of the goods.
- Grasp the goods and rotate them 180 degrees in a safe manner.

- Carefully drive the forklift out from under the pallet.
- Prepare the goods for further safe transport or storage.

After finishing work:
- Clean the truck and return it to its designated place.
- Lower the forks and apply the parking brake.
- Turn off the engine and remove the key or take the access card.
- If you have any comments on the condition of the truck, enter them in the operating log and notify your supervisor.
What is NOT allowed?
- Transport or lift people on the forklift.
- Exceed the load capacity of the truck.
- Leave the forklift with the forks raised, the key, or the access card.
- Leave the forklift on escape routes and intersections.
- Allow untrained persons to operate the forklift.
- Use a damaged forklift.
- Repair or service the forklift yourself.
- Climb onto the forks of the forklift.
- Lean outside the outline of the forklift.
- Eat, talk on the phone, or listen to music while working.
- Operate the forklift under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants.
Breakdown or accident?
- If something breaks down, turn off the forklift engine, secure it against restarting, and report the malfunction to your supervisor.
- If there has been an accident, do not move anything and inform your supervisor.
- Hang a sign on the damaged forklift truck: "EQUIPMENT UNDER REPAIR – DO NOT START."
