Before you start work, remember that you must:
- Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
- Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
- Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.
General safety rules:
- Store long and heavy goods on appropriate carriers (EURO, MAX, etc.), keeping the center of gravity low.
- Use fasteners (straps, belts, etc.) to secure the load against slipping or shifting.
- If necessary, use more than one pallet.
- Do not stack long and heavy loads vertically, leaning them against the walls of the carrier (e.g., pallet basket).
- Transfer long and heavy loads placed vertically in baskets to a suitable pallet to ensure stability during transport.
Incorrect securing:

General safety rules:
- Assess the stability of the pallet and the condition of the load securing before transport.
- If transporting the pallet poses a risk of it tipping over or crushing a person, transfer the load to another logistics carrier (EURO pallet, MAX pallet, or another suitable for the size of the load).
- Use load securing devices (straps, binders, stretch film).
- Secure sharp edges of the load with a cardboard cover and additionally wrap with stretch film.
- Move bulky loads as a team.
- Select the appropriate type of forklift for the type of load being transported so that the weight of the load does not cause the forklift to lose control and stability.
- When driving a forklift with a bulky load, ensure good visibility and maintain a safe speed.
Proper securing:
- Place the load upright and surround it with other goods to improve stability. Additionally, secure it with available fasteners.
- If the load cannot be surrounded by other goods, place it diagonally along the longer edge of the carrier. Additionally, secure it with available fasteners and secure any protruding parts (with cardboard covers and stretch film).

What NOT to do?
- Do not approach the load if you suspect that it is unstable or if it starts to tip over with the pallet.
- Do not try to catch a falling load.
- Do not make sudden maneuvers with a forklift with a load resting on the forks.
- Keep a safe distance of at least 3 meters from a maneuvering forklift.
Failure or accident?
- If the fastening is damaged, replace it with a new one.
- If the truck has broken down, remove the load from the truck, working as a team and with the support of a working truck.
- Damage to the loading floor of a truck excludes the vehicle from loading. Immediately inform your supervisor of this situation.
- Move the damaged bulky load to a safe place that does not pose a threat to pedestrians or forklifts. Report the damage to the load to your supervisor.
