Get ready for work—you must wear:

  • a work shirt and pants,
  • work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • a reflective vest,
  • cut-resistant work gloves.

Before you start work, you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting work:

  • Visually assess the technical condition of the unloading area.
  • Check that all components are working properly (ramp lighting, gate, loading bridge).
  • Make sure that the driver has properly chocked the vehicle's wheels.
  • Notify the security guard that you are ready to start work.

During work:

  • Start work after checking the wheel chocks and obtaining permission from the security guard.
  • Open the gate and prepare the ramp for loading/unloading.
  • Proceed with loading/unloading the vehicle.
  • When working on a tandem truck, exercise extreme caution when moving between trailers.

After finishing work:

  • Close the gate after loading/unloading.
  • Notify the security guard that the work has been completed.
  • Leave the workplace tidy.

What is NOT ALLOWED?

  • Start loading/unloading without checking the vehicle's safety features (wheel chocks, trailer drawbar supports).
  • Use faulty or damaged equipment.
  • Stay in the area where the truck is moving while driving up or down the ramp.
  • Open the loading ramp gate by the warehouse worker.
  • Repairing and modifying equipment at the workplace on your own.

Breakdown or accident?

  • If an accident has occurred, do not move anything and inform your supervisor.
  • In the event of an accident, immediately administer first aid to the injured person and, if necessary, call the emergency services.
