Get ready for work—you must wear:

  • a work shirt and pants,
  • work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • a safety helmet. 

Before you start work, remember that in order to operate a forklift truck, you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training,
  • Have a UDT qualification certificate.
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting the forklift:

  • Inspect the forklift truck – check for damage.
  • Check the brakes, steering wheel, drive, and locks.
  • Make sure that the lights, display, and signals are working.
  • Check the condition of the tires and the battery charge level.
  • Check the tow bar and trailer hitches.
  • Report any faults immediately to your supervisor – do not use a faulty forklift!

During operation:

  • Before moving, check that the route is free of obstacles and people.
  • Be careful – always look in the direction of travel.
  • Drive at low speed, especially:
    • when turning, in narrow passages and on uneven surfaces,
    • when visibility is limited.
  • Use your horn when turning, entering, and exiting.
  • Do not carry passengers or loads exceeding the permissible weight.
  • Stow loads securely – max. height 2 m.
  • Avoid sudden braking and sharp maneuvers.
  • Inside the halls, move only on designated roads.
  • When parking, apply the brake, turn off the ignition, and remove the key.

After finishing work:

  • Park the truck in a designated, dry, and safe place, away from moisture and heat sources.
  • Secure the truck against access by unauthorized persons.
  • Enter comments on the technical condition in the "Operation Log."
  • Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Maintenance and repairs may only be carried out by an authorized maintenance technician – the operator only performs basic checks.

What is NOT ALLOWED?

  • Drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicants.
  • Transporting people or loads exceeding the permissible weight,
  • Repair the truck yourself or tamper with the electrical system.
  • Remove safety devices, nameplates, and warning signs,
  • Smoking, eating, talking on the phone, or listening to music while driving,
  • Park the forklift on slopes or in prohibited areas.

Breakdown or accident?

  • Stop the truck immediately and disconnect the power supply.
  • Mark the forklift with a sign saying "Forklift under repair – do not start!
  • Report the breakdown or accident to your supervisor.
  • Do not allow unauthorized persons to enter the scene.
  • In the event of an accident, immediately administer first aid to the injured person and call the emergency services if necessary.
