Get ready for work—you must wear:

  • A work shirt and pants,
  • Work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • Cut-resistant work gloves,
  • Hearing protection,
  • Safety glasses.

Before you start work, you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training,
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting work:

  • Visually assess the condition of the machine in terms of safe operation.
  • Check the cleanliness of the machine and the ground beneath it. If you detect any leaks, remove them.
  • All loose elements of your clothing, e.g., clothing, hair, access cards, etc., must be secured.
  • Check whether the machine is powered (white LED) and whether the safety devices are working (red LEDs should be off).
  • Make sure that starting the machine does not pose a risk of accident.

During operation:

  • If you notice any irregularities, stop working, turn off the machine, and inform your supervisor.
  • Keep your hands and feet away from moving parts. Watch your feet when lowering the lift.
  • If the wire in the roll has run out, stop work and replace the roll with a new one. Remember to turn off the machine and secure the switch with a padlock.

After finishing work:

  • Turn off the machine and secure it against unauthorized use, e.g., by locking the main switch with a padlock.
  • Remember to take the key and leave it with the person designated to store it.
  • Clean the workstation and the machine.
  • Make sure that the workstation and tools you leave behind do not pose a threat to the environment.
  • Do not use emergency switches and sensors to stop the machine on a daily basis.

What should you NOT do?

  • Allow unauthorized persons to work.
  • Work despite machine damage.
  • Tamper with the condition and location of safety signs.
  • Repair machines by unauthorized persons.
  • Crush materials that are not suitable for crushing (glass, steel, etc.).
  • Replace wire spools without securing the machine switch with a padlock.
  • Giving access cards to open the chute to unauthorized persons.
  • Leaving the workplace while the machine is in operation.

Breakdown or accident?

  •  If something breaks down, turn off the machine and report the fault to your supervisor.
  • If an accident has occurred, do not touch anything and inform your supervisor.
  • Hang a sign on the damaged device: "DEVICE DAMAGED - DO NOT TURN ON."
  • In the event of an accident, immediately administer first aid to the injured person and call the emergency services if necessary.
