Before you start work, you must:
- Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
- Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
- Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.
Before starting work:
- Make sure that the device and its power cord are in good working order.
- Check that the screw holding the disc is tightened properly.
- Check that the items prepared for grinding are securely fastened to the ground.
- Remove flammable materials from the work area.
- Make sure that your work does not pose a hazard to you or those around you.
- Connect the device to the power supply.
- Ensure that the protective covers are in good working order and in place.
- Turn on the device.
- Test the grinder without load.
During operation:
- Follow the operating instructions for the device.
- Do not use excessive force (which could damage the disc).
- Always hold the grinder with both hands.
- Do not put down the grinder while it is running.
- Start the grinder before the disc touches the material being ground.
- Stay focused on your work; if something distracts you, stop working.
After finishing work:
- Turn off the device.
- Tidy up your work area.
- Inspect the technical condition and store it in a place with appropriate conditions.
What NOT to do
- Work with the device if you are not feeling well (e.g., dizziness, weakness, malaise).
- Work on a damaged device.
- Work continuously without breaks to allow the engine to cool down.
- Perform repairs or modifications yourself.
- Pull on the power cord or extension cord.
- Leave the equipment unattended.
- Work on a ladder or faulty scaffolding.
- Work in bad weather conditions that cause high humidity.
- Perform work that is not in accordance with the intended use of the device.
- Work with a grinder without the disc guard installed.
Breakdown or accident?
- If something breaks down, turn off the device, secure it against restarting, and report the fault to your supervisor.
- If an accident has occurred, do not touch anything and inform your supervisor.
- Hang a sign on the damaged device: "DEVICE UNDER REPAIR – DO NOT USE."
