Get ready for work—you must wear:

  • A work shirt and pants,
  • Work shoes with composite toe caps,
  • A reflective vest,
  • Cut-resistant work gloves,
  • Safety glasses, 
  • Hearing protection, 
  • Face shield,
  • Dust mask.

Before you start work, you must:

  • Complete health and safety training and on-the-job training.
  • Have no health contraindications to performing the work.
  • Be familiar with the operating instructions for the machines and equipment used at your workplace.

Before starting work:

  • Visually assess the technical condition of the equipment.
  • Check that all parts of the equipment are working properly. 
  • Check the condition of the extension cords powering the equipment. 
  • Make sure that starting the equipment does not pose a risk of accident.

During operation:

  • Follow safe working practices in accordance with the instructions and recommendations.
  • Maintain the technical efficiency of power tools.
  • Do not use the devices in rain or damp conditions.
  • Ensure good lighting. 
  • When replacing items such as drill bits or discs, always disconnect the device from the power supply.
  • Secure loose clothing and accessories so that they do not pose a hazard during work. 
  • Wear safety glasses and a protective mask when working.
  • Do not carry the device by the cord; disconnect it by holding the plug.
  • Protect the cord from overheating, oil, and damage.
  • Keep your work area tidy.

After finishing work:

  • Turn off the device. 
  • Clean the work area and the device, then put them back in their place. 
  • Make sure that the work area and tools you leave behind do not pose a hazard to the environment. 

What should you NOT do?

  • Perform fire-hazardous work in rooms where painting or other work involving flammable substances was carried out on the same day.
  • Allow unauthorized persons to work. 
  • Repair tools by unauthorized persons. 
  • Leave the workplace while the equipment is in operation. 
  • Use damaged tools or use them for purposes other than those for which they are intended. 

Breakdown or accident?

  •  If something breaks, put the damaged tool aside and report the malfunction to your supervisor.
  • If an accident has occurred, do not touch anything and inform your supervisor.
  • Hang a sign on the damaged tool saying: "DEVICE DAMAGED - DO NOT TURN ON."
  • In the event of an accident, immediately administer first aid to the injured person and call the emergency services if necessary.
